How do I pay for lessons?

a. Tuition Fees: Fees for music lessons are invoiced on a monthly basis, with payments automatically debited on the first day of each month.

b. Provision of Payment Details: Enrollees must submit their payment information through the Opus1 secure online payment system (found here: https://btsom.opus1.io).

c. Initial Payment for New Enrolments: New enrollees will be billed on a per-lesson basis from the date of their registration until the commencement of the standard monthly billing cycle. This cycle begins on the first day of the month following their registration. Any payments made for lessons during this initial period will be credited against the first monthly tuition fee.

Are there any transaction fees?

a. Direct Debit: An administrative fee of $2.20 is charged only once for setting up the direct debit, applied to the first payment.

b. Credit Card Transactions: Credit card payments are not subject to a setup fee. However, a processing fee of 1.98% is applied, with an additional fee of 1.10% for international cards.

c. Failed Payment: In the event of a failed payment attempt, a charge of $4.40 will be applied.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

a. Notification of Absence: Enrollees are obliged to notify the school of any absences via the Opus1 portal, the designated email address (team@bectaylormusic.com), or by text message to the mobile number listed on the school’s website.

b. Cancellation Notice: Providing more than 48 hours’ notice for the cancellation of a private lesson enables the school to offer a substitute 'take-home' or video lesson.

c. Group Classes: Fees for group classes are due regardless of attendance, with no provision for make-up classes.

How do I stop lessons/cancel my enrolment?

a. Notice Requirement: A written notice must be submitted to team@bectaylormusic.com at least 14 days before the next scheduled payment to discontinue lessons.

b. Early Cancellation Right: An enrollee has the right to cancel their enrolment within the first two weeks of lessons. Should they opt to cancel during this period, they must notify the school i writing before the two-week period ends to avoid the next payment.

How are the monthly subscription fees calculated?

The monthly tuition fee is the result of the following calculation: (Single Lesson Rate × Total Lessons Per Year) / Number of Billing Months. The school operates on a standard 11-month billing cycle.

Transaction Fees and Discounts:

• A set-up fee of $2.20. No other fee is incurred for direct debit transactions.

• A transaction fee of 1.98% applies to credit card payments, with an extra 1.10% for international cards.

• These fees are added to the monthly tuition fee and are accurate as of 20 January 2024.

We provide various discounts for different enrolment scenarios, detailed on our website. These discounts may be subject to change and are applied to the monthly fee before transaction fees.

Example Calculation: Using a single lesson rate of $57.5 and an annual total of 40 lessons, the monthly fee, prior to transaction fees and discounts, would be $209.09 ($57.5 × 40 / 11). For credit card payments, a transaction fee of $4.14 ($209.09 × 1.98%) is added.

Should a 5% early payment discount apply, it would reduce the base fee by $10.45 ($209.09 × 5%). Therefore, the adjusted monthly fee before transaction fees would be $198.64, which becomes $202.57 once the transaction fee is added.

Our Terms and Conditions:

What happens if I miss a lesson?

  • Private Lessons - give us 48 hours notice via email and we can organise a zoom lesson or a take-home lesson. If you are unable to attend your private lesson and cannot do a Zoom lesson, your teacher will prepare an individualised take home lesson made especially for you in your allocated lesson time. This lesson will be emailed home to you for completion at home. As our teachers are always very busy, we do not offer make up lessons for absences.

  • Group Lessons – group students are charged for all classes, regardless of attendance. Due to the structure of group classes, alternative classes are sometimes but generally not available.

  • If you are unable to attend your scheduled lesson you must cancel your lesson in the Opus1 portal or email us 48 hours before to receive a take-home lesson. If the school is not notified about your absence, you will be marked by your teacher as ‘No Show’.

Cancellation of enrolment

Written notice to exit from lessons must be provided at least 14 days before your scheduled payment on the 1st of the month.

An exception to the above cancellation policy is within the first 2 weeks of enrolment. If you are not happy with your lessons after the first 2 weeks, we will cancel before your 3rd lesson with no advance notice required and provide a full refund.

Social Media

The Bec Taylor School of Music may publish photographs and videos of students on the studio website and other social media because we believe that good things are worth sharing. We require all new students to complete a Social Media declaration form where you can also opt out.

Collection Process Initiation: If the account remains delinquent beyond the grace period, we reserve the right to commence formal debt recovery proceedings. This may include the engagement of a third-party debt collection agency.

Additional Fees: In the event that a debt collection service is employed, the enrollee will be responsible for any additional fees that are incurred as a result of the collection process. This is in addition to the outstanding tuition fees and any applicable late fees.
